INDUSTRIALISTS SEE HUGE SCOPE IN FOOD PROCESSING SECTOR

The World Food India delegation generated huge excitement among the business community of Chhattisgarh during a roadshow organized here on Friday.

The roadshow was organized by the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) in collaboration with CII to extend the invite to Uttarakhand based industrialists to participate in ‘World Food India 2017’.

The Roadshow was attended by Minister of Commerce & Industries, Government of Chhattisgarh Amar Agrawal, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Commerce and Industries, Government of Chhattisgarh, N Baijendra Kumar, and other senior officials from the State Government as well as Dr Vijaya Kumar Behera, Economic Advisor, Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries, a Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) press release informed.

More than 200 business persons and industrialists attended the World Food India Roadshow.

Notably, ‘World Food India 2017’ is a platform for showcasing the food processing strength of India and an opportunity to connect with international and Indian key players in food processing and allied sectors.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is the National Event Partner. The three-day mega event ‘World Food India’ is to be held in New Delhi from November 3–5, 2017.

Addressing the dignitaries and the business community of Chhattisgarh, Minister of Commerce & Industries, Government of Chhattisgarh Amar Agrawal said “Country’s progress is not possible without empowering farmers.WFI is the step towards supporting and uplifting farmers and together as a Nation we are working to make the vision of Prime Minister of “Make In India” into a reality”.

Speaking at the roadshow and highlighting the growth prospects in Chhattisgarh, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Commerce and Industries, Government of Chhattisgarh N Baijendra Kumar said “Today’s food will become tomorrow’s culture and we have to eradicate the monopoly in Food Processing Sector.

“We need to uplift the local food processing sector and empower them.Also, there is a need to make the Industryself sustainable and should not be dependent only on subsidies”.

Briefing about the States’ plan in Food Processing Sector, Alarmelmangai D, IAS, Director, Directorate of Industries in her address said that “Chhattisgarh State is coming up with a Food Park in Dhamtari district with area of 170 acres of worth Rs 310 crore”

World Food India delegation leader Dr Bijaya Kumar Behera, Economic Advisor, MoFPI, discussed the investment and growth opportunities in food processing sector with the business leaders.

He stated that MoFPI is bringing about a series of metamorphosis in the food processing industry to give a major boost to the industry.

Behera urged the business community of Chhattisgarh for maximum participation in the event at New Delhi and look for new opportunities and collaboration with other Indian and global companies.

All leading giants from India and abroad in Food processing, food technology, technology and equipment players, cold chains & reefer transports, ingredients, food retailers will be present at World Food India.

World Food India will provide a platform to showcase offerings and Services along the food value chain which includes production, processing, packaging, technology, equipment, storage, logistics or retail.

Eighty international food companies have confirmed their participation at World Food India. Also, 30 CEOs of international food companies will attend the CEO Roundtable at World Food India.

Industry representatives who were present at the Roadshow included Agro products, beverages, fisheries, dairy, organic and health food, Farmer Producer Organisations, Progressive farmers and food, industry associations and academia.
