Personal Profile :

  • Shri. Devendra Chaudhry is a very senior officer in the rank of Secretary to the Government of India (GoI) with over 35 years experience in high positions of policy making and implementation. He is presently Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries in the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.
  • Prior to this position, Shri. Chaudhry was Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, in the Government of India. He has rich experience as Special Secretary Power, GoI for more than 3 years where, his team was able to surpass all 67 years of record in generation capacity addition, transmission and production of power in the year 2014-15 and this itself was on the back of stiff achievements in the earlier years – again something set by himself.
  • Shri. Chaudhry has earlier held policy positions in the Department of Pharmaceuticals, GoI for 3 years where he conceived and launched the Campaign for promotion of Generic Drugs as against expensive branded drugs. He was also instrumental in shaping India’s new Pharmaceuticals policy after intense research on complex relationships in brand pricing, market share & common man needs.
  • In his illustrious career, Shri. Chaudhry has worked in the Ministry of Information Technology for over 6 years of which 3 were as Adviser, Information Technology to Prime Minister of Mauritius presently President and was instrumental in shaping the Mauritius IT Policy and the building of US$ 100 Mn CyberCity in Mauritius. He has, to his privilege, being part of some 22 international agreements signed in IT between India and other countries. Besides, he assisted in launching of India’s first IT Venture Fund in 2000 which has since been rated as very successful in driving India’s IT growth particularly in the software sector.
  • Shri. Devendra Chaudhry graduated from India’s premier technical institute – the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur. He has also to his credit an MBA from Australia besides proficiency in French.
