  • Prior to his 2005 appointment, Dr. Petersen held progressively responsible positions within FSIS’ policy and science programs in which he addressed slaughter standards and procedures, and prevention initiatives for pathogenic E. coli, Listeria, and Salmonella in meat and poultry. He began his professional career in 1982 as a veterinarian in private clinical practice.
