  • Dr.. Nirpendra Chauhan born in a farmer's family at Bijnor (U.P) on 20th August 1987. He has been awarded his doctorate degree (Ph.D) in Agronomy from H.N.B. Garhwal Central University and got M.Sc. (Ag.) in Agronomy from Agra University.
  • Presently, he has been serving as the Scientist-in-Charge & HOD, Centre for Aromatic Plants (CAP), Selaqui, Dehradun. In the past Dr.Chauhan has worked as Assistant Director in Flavour and Fragrance Development Centre (FFDC). Kannauj (UP) from 1999 to 2002, Agriculture Research Officer in Pharmaceutical & Herbs Development Institute, Ranikhet from ,1995 to 1999 and did research work. in Central Institute for Medicinal & Aromatic Plants, Lucknow from 1989 to 1995. He is having more than 26 years experience in Research & Development, extension, development of agro-technologies, processing and commercialization of aromatic plants. A total number of 10 projects funded by different funding agencies have been successfully executed under his guidance. Besides, he has also published 65 research papers in reputed journals, Technical Bulletins on aromatic crops and a book entitled 'Essential Oils, Extracts & Absolutes".
  • He played a major role in establishment of CAP, Selaqui and development of aromatic sector In Uttarakhand. As a result more than 7200 ha. area have been brought under cultivation of aromatic plants engaging more than 18,000 farmers in 109 aroma clusters and 178 field distillation units . The overall turnover of aromatic sector in Uttarakhand has reached to Rs. 70 crore in year 2016 as against Rs. 2 crore in the year 2002. Market linkages have been  established and for this purpose, a revolving fund of Rs 86 lakhs has also been created for buy back of aromatic produce from farmers. Minimum Support Price (MSP) on 23 essential oils has been provided to the farmers.
  • He has been confirmed 'Scientist of the Year" award by Essential Oil Association of India for the year 2010; for his outstanding contribution In development and propagation of aromatic Sector In Uttarakhand.
