Personal Profile :

  • Shri J.P. Meena, IAS, is presently working as Secretary to the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India, New Delhi. He is in charge of the issues relating to formulation of policy and programmes for development of food processing sector, creation of modern infrastructure for food value chain and increasing food processing and preservation capacities in the country.
  • Mr. Meena has done his Master’s degree in Sociology from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur and in Rural Social Development from University of Reading, UK. He also holds M.Phil in Social Sciences from Punjab University, Chandigarh and Post Graduate Diploma from Indian Institute of Public Administration, Delhi. Mr. Meena has travelled extensively overseas representing Government of India in various capacities.
  • After joining the Indian Administrative Services in 1983, he has served in various important positions in Government of India as well as State Government of Assam. He has served as Secretary (Industries & Commerce), Principal Secretary (Agriculture), Agricultural Production Commissioner in the State Government. He has also worked for a considerable period in Government of India as Director in Ministry of Textiles, Joint Secretary in Ministry of agriculture, Joint Secretary in Ministry of Home Affairs, before joining MoFPI. Mr. Meena has considerable experience of agricultural production and industrial development both in State and Central Governments.
